Straight off the back of our exhibition with Grand Sublime, Kekun Studio played host to a special pop up for the Cannibal Cubs!
Initially set to be an online launch event we convinced the cubs to join us in the studio and to make their mark on the studio walls. An evolving collective of artists founded by our first exhibitors Corvid Eyes & Feral Fang, they've produced a new set of prints, zines and a limited edition t shirt which you can order here. It's great to see people branching out and doing new projects but also to have a space like Kekun which can accommodate them and allow them to expand upon their ideas. Although I was surprised when the initial idea for a giant fox on the wall grew to include blood splattered all across the floor!
Indeed our own heads were buzzing with excitement at the possibilities as we'd only just returned from a stint helping on production at Nuart Festival in Stavanger, Innate Forms had just finished up a few days beforehand and the week after Mary would find herself busy helping international street artist Vexta create a new piece down at The Tunnels. So its great how our initial idea for a studio space has expanded to include so much more and we'll aim to keep pushing local artists and creatives, providing a fun space to make and show work, supporting artists visiting the city and adding our voice to the conversation around Aberdeen as a creative city.
