It's almost the last day to check out 'Reverence' by Caitlin Robb which is currently on show at Foodstory. It's the first show I've seen this year and kicked things off nicely. With a mix of drawing, ceramics, photography and poetry it covered a lot of ground and tackled each medium with prowess. A look at Caitlin's website reveals she's currently a student at Grays School of Art yet she has a professional approach that's much more advanced than what I've seen from students at the same stage. With a rather full website highlighting projects, documentation and poetry, it helps build a bigger picture of Caitlin as an artist and surely one to watch. Caitlin's bio perfectly summed up the 'Reverance' show which you can read below and check out some snaps from it too.
"I am an artist currently based in Aberdeen and I'm studying Contemporary Art Practice at Gray's School of Art. The overarching themes of my practice are the natural world, anatomy, spirituality and social issues. The foundation of my practice is my observant and highly detailed drawing, however I also experiment with printmaking, analogue photography and more recently, casting with ceramics, poetry and installation."
A fair mix of ideas and out puts but Caitlin has a great grasp of her ideas and its great to see her exploration of different mediums with in her brief. 'Reverance' will be coming down this weekend so be sure to pop into the up stairs shop in Foodstory and check it out today and tomorrow. Also remember its important to support new and emerging artist's like Caitlin and to value the contributions to Aberdeen's cultural landscape, both big and small.
